Abstract

Literature has the power to represent the present, recall the past and imagine the future for us. Literature helps us better understand our lives, ourselves and the world around us. Encounters with literature develop the concepts of identification, imagination and empathy. In our increasingly chaotic world, these skills matter deeply. It is a tool that enables people to tell others about their experiences and share their stories. Literature has the power to promote social change as well as preserve cultures and traditions. We can encounter other viewpoints and opinions through reading literature. Literature reflects the society, its good values and its ills. Literature mirrors the ills of the society with a view to making the society realize its mistakes and make amends. The present paper try to focus on the power of  literature.
